The conclusion of the ultrasound diagnostician regarding the condition of the thyroid gland should be compared with the result of the hormonal examination and the consultation of the endocrinologist regarding the clinical picture. When suspicious tumors are detected, it is recommended to conduct a puncture under ultrasound control with further histological examination and make a decision on further tactics. There is no special preparation for ultrasound of the thyroid gland. It is held, on average, within 15 – 30 min.
Most pathologies detected by ultrasound are the result of dyshormonal changes and require medication correction prescribed by an endocrinologist. Doctors recommend performing an ultrasound of the thyroid gland every year.
