КТ органів черевної порожнини, Львів

What is CT of abdominal and pelvic organs?
CT scan of abdominal cavity in Lviv is a radiation diagnostic method, during which the patient's body is scanned layer by layer with X-rays.

CT provides a high-precision three-dimensional image of the organs, which clearly shows their structure, relative position and possible pathological processes.

Computed tomography images of the abdominal organs allow to study changes in the gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, liver, stomach, genitourinary organs, colon and small intestine, blood vessels and other structures located within the abdominal cavity and pelvic cavity (adrenal glands, kidneys, blood vessels, urinary system, lymph nodes).

At the NOVO Medical Center in Lviv, computed tomography of the abdominal cavity and pelvis is performed by highly qualified doctors on a Toshiba AquilionTM PRIME 3D computed tomograph.

  • Inflammatory processes (pancreatitis, cirrhosis, hepatitis, and liver steatosis;

CT of the abdomen and pelvis is also performed to detect damage to the liver, spleen, kidneys, and other internal organs in cases of abdominal trauma. It is used for navigation purposes during targeted biopsies and other procedures, such as abscess drainage and minimally invasive tumor treatments.

This type of CT is also conducted before complex surgeries to determine a minimally traumatic and effective treatment plan. Sometimes it's performed post-operation to assess the outcomes. CT of the abdomen and pelvis is used for planning and proper execution of radiation therapy for tumors, as well as monitoring the response to chemotherapy.

It also detects:

  • The structure of parenchymal organs (organs composed of solid tissue), their pathological changes;
  • Normal or complicated patency of tubular and hollow organs;
  • Foreign objects;
  • Blood disorders;
  • Congenital anomalies;
