On May 17, 2024, the All-Ukrainian Veteran Business Forum “Veterano Business Fest” was held in Lviv, organized by the Center for Social Development and Public Initiatives of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv together with the NGO “Families of the Fallen Heroes of Lviv Region” with the assistance of the Ministry of Veterans and in partnership with the Academy of Social and Economic Initiatives and the Consortium of Veteran Organizations of the East. The event was aimed at presenting practical cases of veteran business in Ukraine, reviewing local programs to help veterans and ways to integrate veterans into civilian life. The forum was attended by representatives of Dnipropetrovs'k, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Volyn and Ternopil regions.
They had the opportunity to present their businesses at the exhibition and learn about donor organizations' programs to support veterans. This nationwide event helped veteran entrepreneurs to attract grant opportunities to overcome barriers to starting their businesses.
Oleksandr Maksymchuk, President of the Association of Philanthropists of Ukraine, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the NOVO Medical Center, took part in the panel discussion on grant support for veteran businesses. The key points of his speech were the ability of non-governmental medical institutions to provide high-quality diagnostic care to the military and their families, amendments to legislation that will expand and significantly simplify the procedure for providing medical services, the development of cases for creating the Veteran's Clinic and Veteran's Estate spaces, which will provide comprehensive medical, psychological and rehabilitation assistance to veterans, and a number of other initiatives, including attracting international investment to implement charitable projects that will promote the integration of veterans into civil life.
